Julie Hall

If you have narcissistic parents and/or have been in a long-term relationship with a narcissist, you have experienced complex trauma: prolonged, systematic, and targeted abuse. You also may have been traumatized by others who denied the realities of what you’ve gone through. Such experiences set you up for self-defeating beliefs and patterns that may be affecting every aspect of your life—your self-concept, your emotional state, your physical health, your relationships, even the work you do in the world.

You may be experiencing hypervigilance; emotional reactivity; compulsive self-doubt; a harsh inner critic; persistent depression and anxiety; people-pleasing tendencies; compulsive guilt and shame; perfectionism and/or self-sabotage; episodes of dissociation; addictions; poor self-care; fear of judgment or criticism; confused relationship boundaries; unexplained chronic pain/illness; and desire for parenting but distrust of authority. Because the majority of psychologists and therapists are not trained in narcissism or in treating narcissistic abuse trauma, good coaching has become a lifeline for healing.

As a narcissistic abuse recovery coach, I can help you validate your experience; identify your feelings; recognize your triggers; separate who you are from who you were told you are; establish healthier boundaries; practice self-care; and actively work on healing.

I am the author of The Narcissist in Your Life, coming in October 2019 from Lifelong/Perseus Books; the founder of the award-winning blog The Narcissist Family Files; and a narcissism expert contributor for HuffPost, Vogue/Goop, and Psych Central. My extensive research and writing on narcissism and my experience as a survivor of narcissistic abuse give me deep and wide-ranging knowledge of narcissistic abuse trauma and treatment.

I am passionate about educating people on the issue and working with survivors on the road to recovery. I know just how devastating this form of trauma is and the importance of receiving appropriate support for it. I care, and I want to help.  I offer phone coaching sessions by the hour. Please feel free to contact me with questions.
