I learned about domestic violence in 2012 when I started volunteering in the court system assisting women and men to file restraining orders. I was in the early stages of practicing therapy then when I realized that I too experienced domestic violence and narcissistic abuse 25 years before but didn’t know how to define it at the time. I learned to heal through therapy, daily gratitude practice, increase self care, cognitive behavioral therapy ( to reframe negative thoughts ) and acceptance and commitment therapy ( to accept my negative thoughts as they are when it was a challenge to reframe them ) , make a commitment to increase self-care, self-esteem and to love myself unconditionally. Processing trauma and depressive symptoms is an important process towards healing that I practice with my clients. I use these methods, with compassion and patience , when I work with survivors.
I have an online private practice for North Carolina clients. Please contact me if you would like to learn more about this healing process.
