The desire to experience unconditional love is the heart cry of every human heart. Loving yourself matters and fulfilling this experience in our lifetime is the spiritual path of awakening and enlightenment. Our early relationships, our experiences of friendship, a romantic encounter with another soul, and our commitments and decisions to love all influence the way we love ourselves.
In an ideal world, you felt unconditional love as a child and your physical and emotional needs were met and you responded with, “Hello world, here I am, look at me, I’m amazing!” The truth is, you are amazing no matter what your experience of love has taught you – positive or negative. Please take that in.
It is never too late to learn to love yourself. When you embark on this journey it will change your life because love changes everything. If you’re not convinced, read on.
10 Reasons Loving Yourself Matters
1) WHEN YOU LOVE YOURSELF, YOU ARE PRESENT TO OTHERS AND HAVE THE ENERGY TO FOCUS ON ALL THAT YOU ARE ENGAGED IN.
You can give yourself fully to life and live fully. You are grounded and centered in yourself.
2) SELF-LOVE ATTRACTS LOVE.
The level of love you have for yourself will determine the kind of person you are attracted to. The healthier you are, the healthier your relationship will be because you attract a healthy person who is able to love, listen, and respect you. You must first love, listen to, and respect yourself.
3) WHEN YOU LOVE YOURSELF. YOU ARE SELF-COMPASSIONATE AND IN TURN, HAVE COMPASSION FOR OTHERS.
Being harsh, unforgiving, and critical of yourself makes you that way with others and does not allow you to grow.
4) SELF-LOVE ALLOWS YOU TO MAKE HEALTHIER DECISIONS.
You know yourself and know what is good for you and what will allow you to use your gifts and ignite your passions.
5) SELF-LOVE CREATES PHYSICAL HEALTH.
One who loves herself is motivated to take good care of oneself and make good choices about nutrition, exercise, and rest.
6) SELF-LOVE CREATES EMOTIONAL HEALTH.
One who loves herself respects her feelings and understands the importance of truth in her life. She speaks her truth in love. She listens to herself. She does not allow anyone to abuse her because she honors herself and implements healthy boundaries.
7) SELF-LOVE GIVES YOU A HEART TO LOVE.
When we are full in ourself, the next place to go is toward loving another. A woman who loves herself can truly love in a relationship from a place of wanting to give and wanting to bring light to her beloved. She receives joy from giving and enlarging the life of another.
8) SELF-LOVE TEACHES LOVE.
A woman who loves herself models in her actions and words to her children and they feel the sincerity of that love and translate that into their worth.
9) SELF-LOVE IS SPIRITUAL.
God asks us to love others as we love ourselves. Self-love is a reflection of your acceptance of God’s love for you. Experiencing the unconditional love God has for us will transform and heal our pain and give us a chance to become our true and highest self.
10) SELF-LOVE EXUDES POSITIVE ENERGY AND LIGHT.
Our world is in need of enlightened , conscious, healed people who are doing their best to bring light and love to all they do.
