How to Make a Vision Board
- Create a FUN atmosphere in which to generate your Vision Board! You can include candles, flowers, music you love or other elements to enhance and beautify your workspace! Relax, pour a glass of wine, turn on some soft music and really think about what changes, what goals do you have?
- Brainstorm with yourself – What do you want: what are your goals? Where do you want to be in a year? Write down whatever comes to your mind, this is your vision so don’t judge yourself. Write it all down no matter how unreachable you may think it is at this time. Be honest and kind to yourself.
- Goals can be financial, relationship, career, healing, travel and whatever goal you need to make yourself feel safe.
- Close your eyes and bring into your awareness the kinds of positive, experiences, qualities and/or feelings that you’d like to have more of in your life.
- Visualize how you want to FEEL as much as things you ‘want’
- Then gather supplies – A few magazines or periodicals that you like or feel aligned with.
- A piece of paper or construction paper, card stock, poster board or similar, Scissors and glue stick.
- Start looking through magazines, cutting, searching, cut out what appeals to you, do not over think it, it might be a word, it might be an image, if you are drawn to it, cut it out.
- From the items you’ve cut out, take those that jump out at you or evoke strong emotions and assemble these together on your board. Arrange and paste them on the board in a way that’s attractive, and feels inspiring. Layout the pieces and begin to past.
- Leave room for things you can add over the year.
- Then think about how you will get to these goals. GOALS ARE JUST A DREAM IF YOU DON”T PLAN FOR THEM.
- What steps will you take to get there, what skills do you already have that will guide you to what your heart is calling for?
- Post the Vision Board where you’ll see it everyday. Or take it and sit with it every morning. Either way, spend at least 3 – 5 minutes looking at your vision board, feeling what it will be like to have the vision realized for that area of your life. As you do, think about the choices you’ll need to make and the behaviors you’ll need to demonstrate throughout the day to move you toward the fulfillment of the vision.
